Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A senior official said the attack left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
