Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
